With ECCMID 2023 fast approaching, we share the sessions at the top of our agenda
Later this week, we’ll be descending on Copenhagen, Denmark, to attend the 33rd European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases – or ECCMID, for short. Much like ID Transmission, ECCMID covers a plethora of topics to get stuck into, but this year is particularly special; the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its inception.
I currently find myself immersed in the show program, trying to decide which sessions I need to attend – but my efforts are being somewhat thwarted by my inability to be in two, three, or even four places at once. In case you’re also attending and find yourself stuck with the same quandary, I’ve curated my recommendations – five top picks each for symposia, oral sessions, and keynote lectures – for you below. It was not easy.
Symposia
Special mentions go to the remaining “Year in” sessions – Year in infection control (April 15) and Year in clinical microbiology (April 17) – I always enjoy these sessions, not just because they highlight some of the neat research I may have missed over the year, but also because they demonstrate just how far we’ve come in the (relatively) short space of a year. And I’ll be sure to attend “Year in public health” (April 17) – a newcomer this year, which makes it all the more exciting.
Oral Sessions
Keynote Lectures
Oh – and if you find yourself with a spare moment at ECCMID (unlikely, I know), please do swing by booth B5-42 to say hello! I’d also be interested in hearing what sessions you recommend: olivia.gaskill@texerepublishing.com
ECCMID will take place April 15–18, 2023, at the Bella Center Copenhagen, Denmark. For more information, visit www.eccmid.org
